Korean Beauty in Australia. Finally.
The Sheet Mask Shop was born of our desire to introduce Australians to the fabulous, great-value skincare products and effective self-care routines we ‘discovered’ during our travels to Korea and Japan.
Sheet masks were a love at first sight – here was a world of gorgeous, effective and fun sheet masks that made an immediate difference to one’s skin. Perhaps, almost as importantly, they provided a truly affordable and luxurious self-care experience for any budget – and we’re all for helping everyone, at any budget, to have some special me-time AND great skin.
As we began trialling more and more Asian skincare products, we found so many that blew the much more expensive Western equivalents out of the water. We wanted to introduce you to those as well.
But beauty is a huge and varied industry in Korea and Japan. It can be overwhelming. A great brand can have some amazing products but also some that are a bit meh. Service can be tricky or slow, and way down here in Australia ain’t the best place to be when it comes to customer service that’s based in Asia.
Our whole philosophy is to make it as easy as possible for Australians to try the very best of these products and help guide you as you explore the wealth of wonderful options to find what is best for your skin.
How do we deliver on our philosophy?
1. We take curation very seriously.
We aim to present the best products in our store. We trial each of them to the greatest extent possible (with the exception of some that do not suit our skin type – in that case we rely on a few super-trusted fellow skincare lovers amongst our friends!) We may not always offer a brand’s entire range, just those products that we think are the very best.
We’re always looking for the best new things, especially when it comes to sheet masks. We aim to have the very best range in Australia. These products are so affordable that we think they are the perfect products to have some fun with, or to try out new brands and innovations as they become available. Even if you’re on a tight budget it won’t break the bank to have a special high-end experience with a luxury brand every now and then.
2. We aim to show that online service can be better, friendlier and more responsive than in-store service.
Nothing makes us happier than personally packing an order for one of our many (and very valued) long-term repeat customers.
We know that some online shopping experiences can be point-and-click impersonal, and if that’s what you love about online shopping, we get it. That’s why we don’t bombard our customers with email spam.
But we do love to connect with our customers too and love using social media (Instagram and Facebook) to personally interact with you. If you ever have a question, reach out and we’ll help you answer it. We couldn’t be happier when you tag us with your sheet mask selfie or an experience with a new skincare product.
You can be sure we will always take the greatest care in serving you because we will be serving you. It’s just us, so the passion is REAL. We (lovingly) pack your orders. If you have a question or just want to reach out, we’ll be answering. If your package goes missing, we will be yelling at Australia Post on the phone. Oh yeah, and the sheet mask selfies you see on our Instagram page is Jess, not a model (ha, pretty obvious really).
The downside of that of course is that occasionally we can’t pack and post your goodies immediately (like we usually do) because we are on holiday. When we go away we put a big notice on the home page of our website and offer a discount code for you to use if you are happy to be a bit patient. If you ever order and don’t get a ‘your order has been shipped’ email, please email us and we’ll either sort it out right away or, if we are away and you’d rather not wait, happily refund you.
3. We make it possible for any budget to enjoy great products and have some special time for themselves.
We love our most luxurious skincare products as much as anyone. But we are really all about ensuring that everyone, on any budget, can have a bit of quality self-care time and have their skin looking its best. One of the reasons we love Korean Beauty is that it is great value for money. You’ll always find an affordable range of sheet masks, trial packs and under-$20 skincare products at the Sheet Mask Shop. They won’t necessarily be as luxurious as higher-end products, but we think they are THE best for their price point.
Of course, our high-end products are just amazing. If you can’t manage a day at spa, these are the next best thing! K-Beauty products can be just as sophisticated as some of the most expensive Western skincare brands – and we absolutely think that some of the Korean products, known as ‘dupes’ for ultra-expensive alternatives, are in fact significantly better than their more enthusiastically marketed counterparts.
There’s usually something on sale at the Sheet Mask Shop (and some fun snap sales throughout the year). We like to mix it up so you can try something new, and the things on sale are often our favourite products.
4. We provide the best information we can.
We spend ridiculous amounts of time trialling then writing descriptions for the products we sell. Wherever possible, we include full and detailed English ingredient lists (but on the odd occasion they are not available) and instructions for how to use them. If you get your products from us and are confused because the packaging is in Korean or Japanese please just come back to the description in the website and you should be all good.
Our range is carefully curated with the season in mind, too. We hate getting spam email from the northern hemisphere telling us about summer skincare solutions while we’re freezing our butts off down here in Tasmania! Our blogs and social media posts reflect that.

Shipping
We're super happy to ship your goodies anywhere in Australia. We're really sorry if you aren't in Australia - but international postage is too expensive and inefficient (which is why we wanted to bring these awesome products to people in Australia).***
In terms of shipping costs - we offer $7.95 Flat Rate Shipping to anywhere in Australia, for any size order*.
Smaller orders (up to about 150g) are sent via envelope (stiff cardboard to keep your masks safe). All other orders are sent as Australia Post parcels with tracking. We pack everything as carefully as we can so that your goodies get to you safely. If you ever have any problems with your order, we are super happy for you to contact us via our 'contact us' link at the bottom of the page.
We aim to provide you with great, local and friendly service (as good as, and hopefully better than you receive at a bricks and mortar store). Please contact us if there is a problem and we will always do our best to help!
***If you would really like us to ship internationally, we are happy to consider it on a case by case basis. Just flick us an email (jess@sheetmaskshop.com.au). Do please be aware though that international shipping out of Australia is pricy (upwards of $24), depends on the destination and requires a bit of stuffing around at our end.
* Yes, we did use to offer $6 flat rate shipping, you aren't imagining it. We are really sorry that we have had to increase our flat rate shipping cost - Australia Post has put its postage prices up AGAIN and we couldn't absorb yet another price increase - and to be completely transparent it is a million times easier (and in my opinion fairer) to increase the shipping cost by a small amount than it is to increase prices for all our products. We really hope you still consider our postage prices fair.
